She studied at Crosthwaite Girls' School in Allahabad and later attended the University of Allahabad, where she completed her higher education.

Literary Career

Varma became one of the central writers of the Chhayavad movement, alongside poets such as Jaishankar Prasad, Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala', and Sumitranandan Pant.

Her poetry is known for its lyrical quality, introspection, spirituality, nature imagery, and exploration of human emotions. Her notable poetry collections include Nihar, Rashmi, Niraja, and Sandhya Geet.

She also wrote prose, essays, memoirs, and sketches. Among her important prose works are Ateet Ke Chalchitra, Smriti Ki Rekhaen, and Shrinkhala Ki Kadiyan.
