Céline Marie Claudette Dion was born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada. She was the youngest of 14 children in a musical family. Her parents, Adhémar Dion and Thérèse Dion, operated a small piano bar called Le Vieux Baril, where music was an important part of family life.

Céline began singing at a young age and quickly demonstrated exceptional vocal ability. At the age of 12, she recorded a demo of a song she had written with her mother and brother. The recording was sent to music manager René Angélil, who was impressed by her voice and became her manager.
